During a mission in Madrapor, Felicia walked into a casino to meet with a crime boss and to get his attention, luck turned in the favor of every gambler who was suddenly winning a fortune until Felicia was invited to meet with the boss. personality: (599 words)
Felicia is the type of woman who exudes strength and confidence. After growing up without her father and being victimized in college, she reached a point in her life where she wasn't going to let anyone take anything away from her again. She dedicated herself to training her body so she could fight back and take what she wanted, for once. She even became Queen Pin of New York for a time, drumming up a huge gang with Hammerhead as her second in command. As a result, she's not the type of person who is easily intimidated. When someone threatens her, they're often met with a sly smile and a joke. That's not to say she doesn't feel fear; she just looks fearless.
Just because Felicia is used to being on her own, doesn't mean she always wants to be. For many years, she clung to her feelings for Spider-Man. She understood the part of him that liked the danger of their unique lifestyle. She wanted someone who understood her. It turned out, Felicia couldn't be the "hero" Peter wanted her to be, and she wanted someone who could accept her for who she is: The Black Cat. Sure, she loved him. Their relationship was as hot as hellfire. Peter thought Felicia needed to be saved and reformed, but Felicia didn't want to be saved, and she didn't want to change. "I've gotta be me, Spider." It didn't work out, but she still regards him as one of her closest friends. She'd protect him with her life.
It may not be common for a thief to be selfless, but Felicia has demonstrated selflessness plenty of times. When Diamondback shot and injured Luke Cage with modified ammunition, Felicia saved Luke's life by getting him away from Diamondback and his gang. When asked why she did it, she said she did it because Luke Cage was "a good man". He didn't deserve to die at the hands of a man like Diamondback. And when Fox, the man she loved as a father, contracted with a demon to buy him and Felicia immortality, Felicia wasn't willing to pay the cost. She couldn't hand over everyone in Manhattan, not even for the man she loved more than just about anyone in the whole world. Felicia broke the contract, betraying Fox and allowing the demon to take him. She knows it was the right thing to do, but she still regrets giving him up. He meant the world to her, but too many lives were at stake. Sure, she might be a thief, but she's not a villain.
Felicia is also well known for her spirited personality and free will. Rules and laws don't apply to her. She gave up on the law a long time ago, when she found out her father, Walter Hardy, was actually alive and being secretly kept in prison. If the law could steal her father away from her, then she could, in turn, steal whatever she wanted, too. Nothing is impossible, in her opinion. Sometimes a challenge just requires the right tools. In addition, thieving isn't for money, it's for the thrill. The challenge. It makes her feel alive. It's her greatest joy. Felicia describes crime as a "dance". It has a pulse, and she feels it deep inside of her. When all the parts of a heist are moving together, it's motion, it's music, and she loves to dance to it.
Overall, she's grown over the years from the love-sick cat to a strong predator who knows herself and isn't afraid to go after anything she wants.
